ITEM SW01256: A Hepplewhite style Armchair of the Slover & Taylor Form, c.1890

At the end of the 19th century, a number of New York cabinet shops were making fine copies of a style that was popular earlier in the century. Often, to add to old sets already in use. Aside from this chair, we additionally have a settee of this form, which is very desirable and useful in a hallway, etc. (see sw01257) These forms are extremely delicate yet strong and have the beautiful reeded columns at the back. We have reupholstered both the chair and settee with new webbing, etc. in the same fabric.
