ITEM SW01257:
A Hepplewhite style Settee
of the Slover and Taylor form, c.1890

At the end of the 19th
century, a number of New York cabinetshops were making
fine copies of a style that was popular earlier in
the century. Often, to add to rooms already employing
period pieces. Aside from this settee, we additionally
have an armchair of this form, which is equally desirable
and useful (see
item sw01256). These forms are extremely delicate
yet strong and have the beautiful reeded columns at
the back. We have reupholstered both the chair and
settee with new webbing, etc. in the same fabric.
