ITEM SW01258: A Carved Mahogany Classical Sofa with Eagle Heads, New York, c.1820

This sofa is a good sized example with superb lines. Note the spiral arms and their restrained development, which is all integrated into one continuous convex line supported by magnificently carved paw feet with fruit, leafage, and scrolls. The crest rail is distinguished by opposing eagle heads above a highly figured elongated panel of figured mahogany. While not new, the upholstery is still in very good condition, and the sofa itself, in superb condition.
