ITEM SW01569: A Mahogany Federal Candlestand, Seymour School, Boston, c.1810
This is a lovely candlestand with great style. Note the very high lift of the legs, almost exaggerated, but beautifully formed to receive a baluster column with horizontal reeding similar to documented Seymour pieces, (another example of this column type can be seen in our private collection).
The top is of a fine mahogany tone with an old age stain which has been overlaid and adds a certain amount of character. (Of course, this can be eliminated.) No breaks or alterations.
Height: 28 1/4 in. Depth: 18 1/4 in.
