ITEM SW00503: A Federal Mahogany Mirror with Gilt Eagle, Boston, c.1810

This mirror was a very popular form and a mate to it is illustrated in The Mirror Book,  Herbert Schiffer (see scan).  Another example appears in vol.III of Israel Sack's American Antiques (see scan). While these mirrors were made in great number, condition the critical element their value, and this mirror, which has an amber mellow glow to the mahogany, has no breaks or repairs whatsoever and retains its original glass and backboard.
