ITEM SW00828:
A Chippendale Mahogany Lowboy/Dressing Table, England,
c.1780

This lowboy is an excellent
example of the Chippendale form with its straight
molded legs (see detail) and beautiful scalloping
at the base of the apron. The front has an unusual
arrangement of a long drawer above two smaller ones
and is well worked within a very shapely apron (see
detail). This piece has not been sanded or skinned,
and the top reveals its history of marks through the
years, which have been polished over through time.
It has the wonderful "lived" look of a real
period antique.

This piece is in excellent
condition with no major repairs or alterations.
Height: 28 1/2 in. Width:
31 1/4 in. Depth: 19 1/2 in.
We also offer another smaller straight legged version
of this form which is shown below and to the right
info), and also another with a cabriole leg (click
here). These are very popular by the side of a
bed, or in a hallway, or alongside a wingchair with
lamp, etc.
