ITEM SW00926: A Large Round Marble Top Chinese Carved Stand, late 19th century

This grand stand is magnificently carved and of substantial size. It has an unusual carved lower shelf and is one of the best of its kind. Its black surface is original and its marble perfect. With a large bowl on top, it makes an extremely dramatic decorative statement and is very versatile regarding placement in a room setting and therefore, this form has always been popular. As is true of many of this form, there are many different qualities in the degree and sharpness, and quantity of carving. This is one of the best.
